Video Workshop Blues

Written by andy on Friday, August 22nd, 2003 in Software.

Where to start, ah yes. I have still be pressing forward in my adventure with my Video Workshop. I think I have finally discovered a process that seems to work for me. I have been using TMPGEnc to get the video files into the correct format for pressing to DVD. At first, it was like I couldn’t get anything to work. My applications were always crashing, the DVD would be jumpy and would skip. However; the last two features that I processed turned out real well and were very viewable. I also came across this article that explains how to archive your retail DVD’s.

RSS or Really Simply Syndication is becoming very popular and main stream on the Internet now. Basically, you use a program called a new aggregator to read in RSS compatible (usually of an XML flavor) url. Then from that URL you will get the contents of that url. Sound like you could do the same with a web browser? Yes, but RSS is fast and get right to the point. You get all of the content as you would from the web browser, but in a faction of the time. There are quite a few of these program out there. I have used a couple that work nicely. There is Newzcrawler and FeedDemon. Both are great programs! I own Newzcrawler and currently FeedDemon is in beta. (download it here)

I don’t know about you, but I am looking forward to the next Lord of the Rings movie a more than the next Matrix movie. Why? Well, unless you have been living under a rock lately, then you haven’t heard about this announcement. Needless to say, I will be taking those days off to be part of that Marathon.

I just ordered what I think will be a nice Headset for when I am gaming and working. I read about the Logitech® Mobile Cordless Headset. They make like 4 or 5 different models for celluar phones and one for cordless phones. Currently I use a cordless Panasonic handset with a headset plugged into it, but sometimes that still doesn’t give me the freedom that I need.

I also ordered a Belkin F1-DA104T OmniView Pro2 4-Port KVM Switch w/On-Screen Display to help consolidate my limited desktop space as it is. I have my dedicated gaming machine, my dedicated video machine and a server. This will be perfect. I have one of their older switch boxes, but I get wavy lines.

I broke down and bought a new board game called Zombies. It is a pretty simple game to learn and fun at the same time. I suppose buying this game coincides with the release of Day of the Dead special edition. My friend Jr and I have raised a little chatter in the forums on this game as well.
