This is not a new approach on gaming graphic, it is just the next level and I am glad that it is finally here. If you recall, most games were 2D, then with OpenGL and Direct3D hit the wave it took us to the new level. Graphics started to look more real and now we are getting into Physics. (Cool)
The next step is to offload these physics to another chip, or what is now being calls physics processing unit (PPU) as they are often called. By taking the rendering power of a new PPU, you gaming experience will be more enjoyable and entertaining.
Just like with anything though, you just cannot plug in this new hardware and expect it to work, the game has to support it and take full advantage of the technology.
