Battlefield 2 Update – again (6/2/2006)

Written by andy on Friday, June 2nd, 2006 in Gaming.

A new Battlefield 2 community update promises help for mod authors, as well professing their acknowledgment of unspecified issues with the latest update to the game, saying they are searching for answers:

Attention Soldiers and Server Admins!

The teams here at DICE and at EA want to take a moment to acknowledge that we are aware of the issues that some are experiencing with the latest release.

We are continuing our work to review and find potential solutions to the problems affecting many players and server admins. We are also reviewing recent changes to servers and gameplay.

While we continue our work internally we want to remind everyone to keep using the EA forums to provide feedback. We review the comments in these and other forums regularly while we consider the direction of Battlefield.

We also want to assure to the mod community that we understand the difficulties you have worked through and we are continuing to look for ways to help everyone and find ways to promote all of the mods and their hard working teams.

As always keep your eyes to this space for all the latest Battlefield News.

More Xbox 360 Backwards Compat Update Coming

Written by andy on Friday, June 2nd, 2006 in Gaming.

According to Next Generation’s website, this week, a Kikizo interview with Xbox boss Peter Moore ruffled the feathers of many Xbox 360 backwards-compatibility fans. In the interview, Moore said, “Nobody is concerned anymore about backwards compatibility… More [backwards compatible games] are coming, but at some point, you just go, there’s enough, let’s move on.”

Many gamers took this as a definite indication that Xbox backwards compatibility updates would soon be getting the axe.

However, in a post on Microsoft Games Global Marketing blog, Gamerscoreblog.com, marketing team member John Porcaro reassured concerned Xbox 360 users.

“We hear directly from [the backwards compatibility team] that they’re in the testing phase of another update, and it should be out in the next few weeks. We saw the list they’re testing, and it looks like they’re hoping to add at least a dozen titles.”

He added, “Rest assured, we’re not done yet.”

Contrary to Moore’s remarks, Porcaro said, “We know for a fact that there are lots of people who continue to care about backwards compatibility.”

The Xbox games that will be included in the upcoming update were not disclosed.

Editors Note:If MS can make all of my Xbox games work correctly on the Xbox 360, then more power to them and that will give me one more in my entertainment center to stack movies and games.
