The Sarah Connor Chronicles are coming. Yes… the same Sarah Connor from The Terminator franchise. Only she isn’t coming to a theater near you… she’s coming to a TV screen.
Hot on the heels of the Blade TV series, it look like the Terminator is taking to the airwaves. The good folks over at Comingsoon give us this:
The new installment in the “Terminator” franchise revolves around Connor and her savior son, John Connor. The series will explore what happened to Sarah Connor after the end of Terminator 2: Judgment Day, when the character went on the run.
The franchise seems to be in experienced hands too. David Nutter will direct… he’s also directed the pilots for Smallville and Supernatural, so the dude seems to know what he’s doing.
I’ll admit that I think this is a great idea. Sarah Connor is a terrific character and I’d love to see the events after T:2.
There isn’t any word on cast yet, but it’s a pretty safe bet that it won’t be Linda Hamilton… which at first I thought was too bad… but she is 50 years old now and probably wouldn’t fit the bill. What do you think about this? via The Movie Blog

Star Trek is the latest sci-fi classic to get the CGI ’special edition’ treatment. According to rumors picked up by TrekMovie.com, CBS and Paramount have been secretly working on a new version of Star Trek: The Original Series for HDTV. The shows will feature the original episodes with brand new state-of-the-art CGI visual effects, including a a redone title sequence (with re-recorded music). The effects are likely to be limited to the space scenes and not effect the live action scenes, so Edith Keeler will not shoot first. The HDTV Star Trek series will begin broadcasting this fall just in time for the 40th Anniversary of Star Trek.

There are reports that a 6-disc box set is currently in the works to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the original Star Wars movie hitting theaters. These same reports claim that there will be more tinkering, including replacing the puppet Yoda in Episode I with CG, plus a ton more.

A PhD thesis based on Star Trek has won an Australian university’s top academic prize. Dr Djoymi Baker’s 90,000 word dissertation ‘Broadcast Space: TV Culture, Myth and Star Trek’ was awarded the University of Melbourne’s Chancellor’s Prize for Excellence in the PhD. Dr Baker watched over 700 Star Trek episodes — more than 624 hours — to investigate the relationship between ancient mythology and today’s popular culture. American academics thought her research was ’superlative’ and suitable for teaching.”

When I hear the word Invincible, I think of Robert Kirkman superhero comic book , but now there is a move and as much as I wanted to really root for Invincible, for me it was another ‘underdog’ movie, but still good.
