300 comic to screen comparison?

Written by andy on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 in General.

OK this gent’s interest in the film ‘300′ is border line “obsession”. He thought it might be interesting to see how closely Zack Snyder is sticking to the original comic books. Pretty damn closely it appears.

He totally stole this idea from filmrot, as they did the same thing when Sin City came out (look here) but well imitation is the highest form of flattery. Although 300 isn’t as close to the comic books as Sin City was it’s still interesting to see atleast that Snyder isn’t putting too much of his own ’spin’ on things and is sticking to Frank Millers vision.

The image captures are from the best version of the trailer I could find, which still wasn’t very good. When the quicktime version of the trailer comes out i’ll update the comparison images (hopefully soon as the trailer is supposed to be playing before ‘The Departed’) So should be up tomorrow or atleast by the weekend (fingers crossed all round, If ever a trailer deserved a HD trailer it’s this one) via Solace in Cinema

City of Heroes Positron interview – Issue 8

Written by andy on Wednesday, October 4th, 2006 in Gaming.

Here is a snip from the Boomtown interview:

Boomtown: Issue 8 will introduce new Safeguard missions that work like the newspaper missions in City of Villains. What are the typical objectives of these missions?

Matt Miller: The main objective is to stop a bank robbery that is already in progress. Once you complete that, you can then go around an instanced area of Paragon City stopping crime, and earning bonus rewards.

Will there both be “standard” newspaper-like missions and “special” missions like the Mayhem missions in CoV?

The Safeguard missions take the place of the Mayhem missions in the Police Band missions. Every 3 to 5 Police Band missions will unlock a Safeguard mission for you and your friends to tackle.

The Faultline zone will be remade. What are you bringing into the zone and why was Faultline the first CoH zone to be remade?

Faultline was really the least populated zone in the game. It was a pain to get around in because it came at a time when very few characters have travel powers, and the zone had a lot of holes and rubble that made it a bear to travel. Players generally only did the missions they needed to and then avoided the zone. Our thought was to first raise the level of the zone so more players would have travel powers (and subsequently bring it in line with the level that the majority of CoH characters seem to be at), as well as give it its own missions and storylines.
