Xbox Live via the Web

Written by andy on Thursday, October 12th, 2006 in Gaming.

Microsoft has launched a website that allows gamers to explore Xbox Live Marketplace without having to turn on their Xbox 360. Xbox Live Pipeline allows anybody to browse the listings for demos, trailers, themes and other downloadable content.

Although it’s impossible to buy content using the web service, it’s likely to prove popular with gamers frustrated by the console’s own rather clunky browsing interface.

As well as listing all the service’s content, Microsoft also uses it to push Xbox 360-related wares through an “Editor’s Choice” panel, where new releases like the Xbox Live Vision camera are promoted next to adverts telling you where you can buy Microsoft points.

There are some drawbacks though. There is currently no way to list content by the date it was added, making it difficult to establish what’s new, while the demos page also includes Xbox Live Arcade titles, cluttering the listing. As with the console’s own interface, which receives biannual upgrades, Microsoft is expected to refine Pipeline as consumers offer feedback.

Fox Brings The Devil Wears Prada To TV

Fox TV bought the rights to the small screen version of The Devil Wears Prada.

The TV series will not be exactly like the movie or the book, says Varitey. Executive producer Robin Schiff says, “The reason you loved the book and the reason you loved the movie was these were characters you really cared about in a world you wanted to learn more about.” The concept of the story is the relationship between a nasty fashion magazine editor and her new assistant.

The Three Stooges remake?

Written by andy on Thursday, October 12th, 2006 in Movies.

First Look Studios has picked up the film rights to The Three Stooges, but bringing Larry, Moe and Curly to the bigscreen will be no laughing matter, reports Variety. In development for years, the project was most recently set up at Warner Bros. Pictures, with the Farrelly brothers writing the script and attached to direct. The studio, however, let the option lapse.

First Look struck the deal with rights holder C3 Entertainment, founded in 1959 by Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Jerome “Curly” Howard, creators of the Stooge characters. First Look, working with C3 Entertainment, said it intends to stay true to the flavor of the original Stooges, who created their own brand of slapstick.

C3 Entertainment president-CEO Earl Benjamin said he loves the contemporized screenplay the Farrelly brothers penned with Mike Ceronne for Warners featuring the Moe, Larry and Curly characters. via ComingSoon
