Battlefield 2142: Review

Written by andy on Monday, October 16th, 2006 in Gaming.

What I like: DICE’ new Titan mode can be viewed as a futuristic broadside mode wich is face paced and intense. If you play this mode, it would make you think twice about playing the traditional conquest mode as it will lack in luster. The new unlock system rewards long-term play and allows your character to become more diverse over time; the trademark battlefield formula of infantry and vehicle combat remains about the same.

What I think sucked: Only two sides, and the load times are still to long.

Without a doubt,  BF2142 is another great addition to the line Battlefield family.   For those of you FPS’er, this is a must add for the collection which is most likely out grown your available desktop space.

Battlefield 2142 might include tracking Spyware

In the latest CGW podcast, they received retail boxed copies of BF 2142.

When you open the box, a big slip of paper falls out first, preceeding any discs or manuals. The slip of paper says, essentially, that 2142 includes monitoring software which runs while your computer is online, and records “anonymous” information like your IP address, surfing habits (probably via cookie scans), and other “computing habits” in order to report this information back to ad companies and ad servers, which generates in-game ads.

Gaming last weekend

Written by andy on Monday, October 16th, 2006 in GamersCircle.

I hooked up with my friend JR and Ross this weekend. JR and I went a couple of rounds in BF2142 (the demo), played mainly a TITAN map and it was a hoot!

Ross and I took on Gerry in Company of Heroes, the first battle didn’t go very well as it was 3 axis vs us.  The next game was the same map, but 2 vs 2 and it was a little touch and go, but one we got the AT’s and gun nests up, we were on the offensive using our bombers and artillery to keep them from pumping out the tanks!
