NCsoft open’s up Halloween treats for City of Hero and City of Villains players
Starting on Wednesday, Oct. 18, NCsoft is conducting and expanding one of its most popular in-game activities, the Halloween Trick or Treat event in the City of Heroes and City of Villains games.
Beginning at 10 a.m. CST on Oct. 18 and ending on midnight on Nov. 1, players in both “City of …” games will be able to go trick-or-treating. Players can “knock” on random doors in the hero’s Paragon City or in the villain’s Rogue Isles and will receive either treats such as inspirations and temporary powers, or nasty tricks in the form of blood-thirsty ghouls and other creatures. As players defeat the ghouls, they will receive a special set of four savage drops that once all are collected can be turned into an additional costume slot by delivering the salvage to special contacts.
Additionally, pumpkins will appear all over both games that can be manipulated and giant monsters such as the Jack of Irons and the Pumpkin King and their minions will roam the streets adding to the mayhem during the in-game event. Additional treats such as badges will be available for defeating the Halloween-themed monsters.
On the night of Halloween itself, signature heroes and villains will appear at the Pocket D Dance Club to mix and mingle with Halloween revelers.

You can tell the current obsessions of Kotaku writers by whatever subject they slavishly follow. For Crecente? It’s Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Ashcraft? Spelling console names in Capital Letters. Eliza, of course, posts mostly about Playboy editorials she disagrees with. And me? World of Warcraft.
So he’s another one of those eyeroll-worthy posts of mine. I’ve long lamented exactly how inelegant World of Warcraft is when it comes to getting a group together. Most people do the vast majority of their quests solo, because there’s just no good automated system for finding a group for any one quest.
Burning Crusade looks to change that. Blizzard will be adding a button next to your social tab to either join a group or create a new one. You can specify the quest, battleground, dungeon, raid or zone and Burning Crusade will put together the rest.

It would appear that there is already a patch available for Battlefield 2142, updating DICE’s just-released multiplayer shooter to version 1.01.
