Batman #677 - Comic Review

Written by andy on Saturday, May 31st, 2008 in General.

Batman677

Bruce Wayne’s current squeeze is Jezebel Jet, (aka Jet) whom is not like every other woman in history of Bruce Wayne/Batman’s.  At least not being able to cope with the whole secret life of The Dark Knight.

It would appear that Jet is scared, not only that something bad might happen to him, but also that his act of masquerading as a crime fighter might be a sign of a mental illness.  She is the voice that questions whether or not Bruce might be his own worst villain and adds that the amount of money he pours into the Batcave in a month would be enough to pay off he country’s national debt. (hey!  toss a little this way would you?)

Then guess what happens?  Batman is attacked by the Black Glove, then a post-hypnotic suggestion turns him off like a light switch.  The butler return, notices that not only is the batcave is thrashed, but that Bruce and Jezebel are gone too.

Hey Al, Watch out!  Behind you!

Starcraft 7 years in 7 minutes.. a history of patch

I’ve always been a hardcore Starcraft player, from when it was released on April 1st, 1991 till about 1 year ago, I never stopped playing.

Lost Season 4 Finale = Good TV

Written by andy on Friday, May 30th, 2008 in TV.

This was great stuff.  Well conceived, well executed.  I really liked the dream sequence with Claire begging Kate not to return to the island with Aaron.  (shivers)

See John Locke in the box was creepy, but in a good creepy way. (if that is possible)  The two hours, as a memorable finale should, have answered question after question, while posing even more and setting the stage for season five.

Is Locke really dead and, if he is, does dead mean dead?  If they get him back to the island, we he reanimate?

Carol Burnett Buddy Harvey Korman Dies

Written by andy on Thursday, May 29th, 2008 in Movies, TV.

Emmy-winning actor and all-around nice guy Harvey Korman passed away at the UCLA Medical Center today. The eighty-one year old had been fighting for his life the last few months after a rupture in his abdominal aortic aneurysm

I watched a Zombie flick… again

Written by andy on Thursday, May 29th, 2008 in Movies.

George A. Romero’s Diary of the Dead is the fifth movie of Romero’s zombie series which is dark, creepy and funny too.

Romero’s story follows a group of college film students who are caught up in the ongoing mass chaos that ensues when the dead start to rise up and feast on the living. As the movie begins they are shooting a mummy picture out in the woods in rural Pittsburgh when news reports of the zombie attacks interrupt them.

The Andromeda Strain - A new virus

Written by andy on Tuesday, May 27th, 2008 in TV.

I barely remember the original “The Andromeda Strain”; it was provative in areas that you didn’t dare attempt to go. (back then)

The Andromeda Strain was a good sci-fi television events for A&E. They did a great job at creating this miniseries based off of Michael Crichton’s best-selling novel by the same name.

Zombies Calling - the GN

Written by andy on Sunday, May 25th, 2008 in Comic Books.

Next to having some cookies and milk before I go to bed, a good zombie flick or zombie read before the lights go out is the best!  In this graphic novella; Joss the heroine, is just an ordinary British-loving zombie geek, turned heroine in the midst of a zombie infestation.

Sonnet, playing the part of best friend and the one to ask the questions we are all thinking (which adds much to the humor), adds drama, reality, fear and depth to the story.

INDIANA JONES and the BOX OFFICE GOLD

Written by andy on Saturday, May 24th, 2008 in General.

It may have been 19 years between adventures, but moviegoers obviously still remember Indiana Jones. Though not breaking any records so far, the fourth film in the series, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, grossed an estimated $31 million dollars at the North American box office Friday, according to the box office tracking website boxofficeguru.com.

Added to the film’s Thursday opening day take of $25m, Crystal Skull has earned $56 so far with three full holiday weekend days still to go, putting the film on pace to perhaps gross an approximate $135-$145m by the end of Monday.

The Friday gross didn’t meet or beat the last two big Memorial Day Friday debuts. Last year Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End opened to $43M in its first Friday and in 2006 X-Men: The Last Stand took $45M on the same day. However, both of those earlier films opened on Friday, while Crystal Skull no doubt cut into its Friday total by opening fully on Thursday.

The news following last week’s disappointing opening of Disney’s Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian didn’t improve in the film’s second week. With an estimated $6.5M Friday total – good for second place – the film dropped a dramatic 66% from its opening Friday gross.

Finally, Iron Man continued to show iron legs by dropping only 40% to an estimated $5M on Friday, which means the film Paramount/Marvel production could add another $22-24M over the long weekend, its fourth weekend in release
