Vegas Day 1
Written by andy on September 8th, 2008 in GamersCircle.
It would seem that registering on the website resulted in "NOT" getting registered. There was no record of "Andy Wood", GamersCircle, GamersCircle Comics, The GamersCircle, or The GamersCircle Comics. I had to hand- make a name badge, while everyone else had a cool pre-printed one. Such a bother!
The first workshop was Staffing Your Shop and Running the Store: There wasn’t enough room in the meeting room, so it became standing room only.
The Retailer lounge never got stocked after the initial setup - Diet Pepsi!?!? Come On!
The game demos were weak; I saw a Blue Dragon CCG, a HeroClix game and a couple other board games.
The tech tip work shop was pretty good. Slightly informative and I think my suggestion for adding a button to the reorder page (which would allow one to get back to the main retailer page) was heard by an Asst. VP who took that suggestion and wrote it down.
I did get to meet other retailers where we talked about comics, games, movies, food and more.
During the Dinner, the charity auction had a nice spread. We got a visit from Darth Vader and some Storm Troopers. I got pictures on the camera, but I didn’t bring a cable to xfer the pics. There was no spotlight on Darth, so I will have to adjust them.
Look forward to my report for day 2.
